The Ecology of the Body

Since the dawn of time, there have been them and us.  It was Adam & Eve against the snake.  It was Cain versus Able.  It was Egypt versus the Children of Israel.  Now, it's Islam versus Christianity.

And through all of this, scripture tells us that Jesus "himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility..." Ephesians 2:14

We are one.  In fact, we are a part of one.  In the ecology of God, we are like a single cell in the body of the universe.  In our local church we function as one of the more major parts of the body: a hand; an eye; a foot; etc.

We continue to wonder, as did the Psalmist, David, Who am I?  The temptation is to think that we are the head, or brain of the body.  Yet scripture reminds us that Christ is the head of the churh and His kingdom.

So what about us?  What is God's plan for our existence here on planet earth?  It is to be part of the body - HIS body, working together to create a healthy kingdom here on earth which will then be transported into heaven, and ultimately to the new earth.

He asks us to be of one mind.  That doesn't mean everyone thinking the exact same thoughts.  It does mean being of the same purpose, with the same goals and intentions.  There is much to be done during our brief stay on this planet and if we don't come together, working together, who will get it done?  Not me? I don't know? Who cares? Someone else? these do not exist in God's kingdom.  If it's to be, it's up to me!  Because I am part of the body.  HIS body!
