Relating to God
What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the name. God? Is it fear? Guilt? Condemnation? Wariness? Or does His name generate feelings of love, acceptance, forgiveness or anticipation?
Now, what is the first thought that comes to mind when you think of your spouse? Your child? A parent? Your favorite athlete or actor?
If your reactions to your earthly relationships generate much stronger feelings of love and acceptance, we need to talk!
How you relate to God, Jesus Christ, or even Christians is based upon relationships. The root word for relationships is relate! We relate and create relationships based upon interaction. When we spend time with another; getting to know the other; building trust, understanding and feelings, we are establishing a relationship.
We are in the business of creating relationships, individually and corporately. Or better yet, personally and as a church family. God has called us to relate to those around us, creating relationships, which will last all of eternity. It all starts with relating to God!
