God Answers Prayers
Today is a time for reflection as we examine how our prayer lives have been going over the past two weeks. Have there been any differences or changes in your life as you experiment with praying every sixty minutes? Are you any more aware of the presence of God in you?
The thing I am enjoying is that the experiment is for sixty days rather than thirty days. It is like training for a marathon, not a sprint.
When I was a senior in high school, I was a runner. I trained year-round for track season. During that year I averaged 100+ miles each week. I would run in the rain, snow, and the occasional sun break. It was enjoyable to be out in the elements producing endorphins while I worked to be in the best shape of my life. My goal was to be consistent in my training and to maintain what I had started.
That parallels my prayer experiment. My hope is that after sixty days it will be much more than a newly formed habit; it will have become a way of life! Life is a marathon, not a sprint, and we need to approach our daily habits with that in mind.
My prayer is that each of us may daily be more aware of God's presence within us and that the realization may take us into an intimate relationship with God that is committed, consistent, and constant!
When we get close to that experience, we will hear more clearly the voice of God within our thoughts, dreams, and conversations. Then we will know without a doubt that our prayers have ascended to heaven and have the blessing of the Creator in the answer!
